Employee Spotlight: Tina Townsend

Tina was born and raised in Warda, Texas and currently lives in Smithville, Texas with her husband and two daughters. After working with Far West Capital founders Cole and Don at State Bank, Tina joined the Far West Capital team and is now a Vice President.

1. How long have you worked at Far West Capital?

I started at Far West Capital in February 2007, not long after it started, so about six years now.

 

2. What does your day typically look like?

I recently was moved out of 3 full-time positions. I was managing our Asset-Based Lending program, CFO work, and HR duties, just trying to keep up with this growing company. Now my job consist of HR and CFO work.

 

3. What do you like to do for fun?

I love hanging out with my family. I have 2 girls ­– 7 ½ and 3.  My oldest is involved in dance and sports so our schedule is filled with practices and games. It’s a GOOD kind of busy.

 

4. What do you hope to accomplish in 5 years?

I hope I don’t go crazy chasing after my kids!  They either love each other or fight like cats and dogs. It’s exhausting but I couldn’t have asked for 2 greater blessing in my life. As far as a professional life, I hope to still be a part of the Far West Capital team or retired and well, my husband says that is “not happening.”

 

5. What do you enjoy most about working here?

The people on this team. They are kind and hard-working individuals who I am glad to have gotten to know.

 

6. How are you set up for success at Far West Capital?

I think anyone who works hard has the opportunity to succeed at Far West Capital.  For me personally, Don has taught me a lot about financing and has helped me come a long way. Not to mention his never-ending patience and calmness when I am behind.

 

7. What is your favorite Far West Capital memory?

When we were working as a small team in Cedar Park. The office had a homely feel and I was able to get to know our small team (Page, Trisha and Matt) very well.

 

8. What is your biggest accomplishment?

For me, my biggest accomplishment is my family – we are so close and I love that.

 

9. What’s a piece of advice you would give to others?

Keep your head down and work hard.

 

10.  What does “unleash your potential” mean to you?

Step up and work hard. If you don’t try, you won’t succeed. Everyone makes mistakes, and with the great team we have, there is always someone to fall on.
